Before discovering Anna on a Facebook advert, I was an historical yo-yo dieter. Over the years, since my teens (when my friends Mum introduced me to Weight Watchers even though I didn’t have a weight problem), I have tried lots of faddy diets.
Weight Watchers, Rosemary Connelly, Slimming World, Grapefruit Diet, 5:2, Body Shape diet. Blood type diet and my fitness pal to name but a few. These diets always promised so much but gave so little. They always felt like such a chore and made me feel miserable.
I ate foods that I didn’t enjoy so resented them and when I did enjoy foods I felt guilty for doing so. This spiralled into a cycle of eating small (unsustainable amounts) before binging on chocolate, biscuits, cake, and any other sugary foods that I could get hold of.
Again, I’d then have the guilt and feel ashamed of myself. This often resulted in more poor food choices in a bid to make myself feel better and so the cycle continued. I would often worry about the health implications of consuming so much sugar but the more that I thought about how I should not be eating it, the more I craved it.
I discovered Anna in September 2020 about 6 weeks after surgery to my neck. Following an injury in January 2020 and delayed surgery thanks to COVID-19, I had gained 24lbs in weight and was repulsed when I looked in the mirror. I had gone through lockdown comforting myself with sugar and justifying my eating with excuses like “I’m in pain” “It’s the medication” and “everyone has gained lockdown lbs” The limited exercise I was allowed to do wasn’t helping.
I wish I had discovered the reset earlier in the year and had the mindset that I now have that nourishing my body would help my recovery instead of the need to comfort myself with rubbish food!
Physically since starting the reset 15 weeks ago, I have lost a total of 16lbs in weight and 47cm from across my body (Bust, waist, thighs, hips, arms). More importantly than the numbers though, I feel AMAZING!
My skin has improved from continuously having unpredictable breakouts, I now only get the odd spot around the time of my period.
My sleep has improved, and I sleep through most nights and wake up feeling energised instead of like I haven’t been to bed. If I do have a sugary indulgence I notice the difference in my sleep instantly.
I no longer crave sugar. I know that I can have it if I want to, but I am no longer thinking about what is in the cupboard for me to eat next.
I enjoy my meals so much more and feel satisfied after I have eaten them. I especially enjoy eating foods that I previously thought were off limits when following an eating plan, for example: Full fat Greek yogurt, cheese, avocado, and bananas. I have not binge eaten once since starting this plan!
My weight loss has not been as fast as when I used to follow fad diets, but this is forever and I will get to where I want to be in my own time, without feeling restricted. I will never again starve myself or feel guilty for enjoying food. I am not afraid of the bathroom scales and no longer weigh myself several times a day to get their approval. I am now only weighing and measuring monthly and feel so liberated!
How I feel is far more important than a number!
I feel empowered to be in control of what I am eating and it is the best feeling in the world, much better than any massive weight loss.
My Husband and Daughter (not yet my Son) are now enjoying the evening meals with me. My Daughter who is coeliac and dairy intolerant is also enjoying some of the breakfasts with me. The food is so easily adjusted to suit your individual likes and any dietary needs.
My Husband has always been a massive takeaway fan, but he often comments after eating the meals that we do not need takeaways when we have such a selection of delicious meals to choose from on the plan.
Mine and my families relationship with food has definitely changed for the better and I cannot thank Anna enough. I am starting 2021 with a more positive attitude to eating and a great selection of yummy recipes to continue cooking and it’s all thanks to her.
The academy is full of the most supportive women you will ever come across. Everyone is full of encouragement and we all share in each other’s achievements and pick each other up if we are struggling.
The biggest game changer for me is that the academy empowers you to learn how to plan your meals. It teaches you the balance needed to maintain this healthy way of eating for life.
Anna does not make you reliant on her to hold your hand forever like the well-known diet companies do so they get to keep taking your money for years and years! She gives you the tools required to go it alone.
To anyone considering joining Annas next reset I would simply say to go for it. You have nothing to lose (excuse the pun) and so very much to gain! It is a no brainer and will change your life for the better!
